:: Is Big Brother Returning? ::

This, in a sense, is a continuation of my first Big Brother article.  It seems that the Justice Department is planning to expand the patriot act to further restrict our freedoms.  This new expansion possibility is very scary, to me.  It is planned to prohibit the releasing of information about detained “suspected terrorists,” start a DNA database of “suspected terrorists,” and forbid the EPA giving out Worst Case Scenario information to citizens in harm’s way.  Furthermore, it would force convicted terrorists to prove why they should be released on bail and allow the deportation of citizens who join a terrorist group or help a terrorist group.

Remember that this is not even in the house yet, but it could get passed.  Our freedoms would be greatly reduced if this idea, as it is now, comes into law.  Also, a terrorist organization could be broadly defined (as to give lawmen more power and flexibility) and helping a terrorist group could be expanded to speeding or smoking.  These speculations of mine are extreme, but possible.  I intend to inform you of the possibilities of this (or something like this) coming into law.

Terrorism is a horrible thing, but it can be dealt with in a way that does not deprive us of our freedom.  This idea, as it stands, is not what America needs, to protect our safety and freedom.  This idea must not be approved!

I used a Yahoo! article and the Center for Public Integrity's website.
