Many times in American History, our right to bear arms has been attacked. It is not uncommon for people to relate firearms directly to crime in our great nation. Many will say that restricting or banning firearms will greatly reduce crime. I ask how? Look at Briton, they have firearms strictly regulated, but crime still occurs. Our Founding Fathers understood the importance of self-defense, so they made sure the citizens could own firearms.
How about an example? Let’s say that firearms have become so regulated that anyone with as much as a speeding ticket is seen as a menace to society, and therefore denied the right to own a firearm. In addition to that, concealed weapons are totally outlawed. The law-abiding folk of this nation would follow the rules accordingly. The criminals would see this as a great opportunity. Fewer victims are allowed to own guns, and no person, outside of law-enforcement, would ever have a concealed weapon. This would surely lead to a rise in crimes, because criminals do not follow the laws. How would you like to be defenseless when a burglar runs into your house and is threatening your family? Controling firearms will only lead to more anti-government feelings and an increase of crime. Arms are a way of keeping the good, well, good. All we need is education, with that, all firearms owners would be much more responsible. Our right to bear arms doesn’t just apply to possible criminals, but our government. In the Declaration of Independence, it is states that citizens of a State have the right and responsibility to overthrow any corrupt government. Without arms, that is all but possible. Our founders wrote our constitution for a reason, let’s use it for the common good. |
