Being that this is a hot topic at the moment, and I happen to have a strong opinion on this matter, I decided to inform you of my stance, and create a poll. 

I personally have always seen marriage to be a union of two people, of the opposite sex, for the extent of their earthly lives.  This is where two people, male and female, love each other, and decided to spend their lives together, caring for each other, devoting themselves to each other, and having a family. 

Now, the idea of same sex marriages has hit the media big time.  The idea of having a same sex marriage, in my humble opinion, defeats the purpose of marriage.  Two people of the same sex do not, and can not, create a family (though they can adopt).  Two people of the same sex are not meant to have sexual relations, and can not birth a child.  Only two people of the opposite sex can reproduce, and have “correct” relations.  Also, a child having two mothers, or two fathers, and also another parent somewhere that they may never know of, can play havoc on the child.  It is not natural for two people of the same sex to have a “family” or spend their lives together in a romantic way (as people do in marriage).

Even though I have my beliefs, and they are strong, people all over this country, and the world, will continue to have same sex relationships.  This means some clarification needs to be done.  My idea for a solution: Marriage is the union of two people of the opposite sex, man and woman, and those people become husband and wife.  Another term should be determined for the union of two people of the same sex, because it is NOT marriage.  Marriage is a sacred sacrament, and is not to be taken lightly, or violated and abused!  If two people of the same sex decide to spend their lives together, they are NOT married and are not a married couple.
