:: Saving the Crappy Morals of America :: |
|
This subject is the most important and most valuable in my beliefs. I look at this country and see a nation that has great potential to end hatred, poverty, class differences, and stereotypes, but that has fallen off course somewhere along the line. This country was founded on the basis of religious freedoms, yet many are now persecuted because of their religion. This country fought for racial equality, and yet there are unjust compensations being requested based only by ones color of skin. This is supposed to be the land of the free, where everyone is equal and can pursue happiness and liberty, yet more and more limitations to our personal freedoms are being created in the supposed name of national security. More and more sex, violence, double-crossing and, vulgar language has filtered on to television and the media. We say that we are going to wage a war on terror and that we don’t negotiate with terrorists, but we advise Israel to stop their war on terror that they wouldn’t have needed to wage if we were true allies with them. We say that we believe in the word of God and yet we molest children and put Him out of our lives. We, as Americans, are the biggest hypocrites possible, yet we are the most moral people in the world? … BULL! We have a problem and we are not mature enough to face them. We must stop and think whom we are cheating in our lives, and then we must act on it and start being moralistic. We must have character. If you haven’t practiced good character recently, you should try it out; it really makes you feel better. I am serious; if our morals don’t get better soon, we will fall like the Romans. The Romans had a great Empire until the people lost their morals. Shortly after they started drinking too much, having orgies, and dismissing chastity, and just allowing their morals go to crap, the whole Roman Empire fell apart because of many small bands of barbarians. Coincidence, I think not! Almost every empire has fallen shortly after their morals took a fall. History repeats itself, just read a history book; we are the Romans, we either reconstruct or morals or we will meet the same doom of the Roman Empire! How hard is it to look after others? It isn't very difficult to do, and that would help ensure life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness to all. Isn't that what we live for?
